To accompany our ongoing exhibition ''Cromwell's Classroom: The Early History of Huntingdon Grammar School' at the Cromwell Museum, Knights is a beautifully crafted wooden strategy game that combines logic, planning, and a touch of mathematical skill.
Using the distinctive movement of the knight in chess, players must transfer marbles from one side of the board to the other, carefully plotting each move to achieve the most efficient solution. A knight’s move is either one space forward and two sideways, or two spaces forward and one sideways, landing in an empty cup. The challenge is simple to learn but rewarding to master.
Can you complete the puzzle in fewer than 45 moves? Achieving this makes you a master player, while 50–55 moves is considered an average score.
Made from sustainably sourced wood, the compact 14cm square board is ideal for travel, holidays, and family adventures. Supplied with 24 colourful glass marbles (colours may vary) and a cotton storage bag to keep everything safely together, Knights is a timeless game that encourages strategic thinking wherever you play.
WARNING: Choking Hazard - this game contains marbles and is not suitable for children under 3 years.
